If you live in or near Marin County, California and are interested in joining an ongoing meditation group, here are the facts:
What: Open Embrace Meditations, a sitting group of the Buddhist Insight Network; meditation and discussion in the Insight Meditation or Vipassana tradition, in the manner of what is taught at Spirit Rock Meditation Center.
Who: Class is led by Stephanie Noble and attended by women of any level of experience with meditation.
Where: The teacher’s private residence in San Rafael CA, right near the Kentfield border off of Wolfe Grade. We sit with a beautiful view of the mountain and sky. The home is pet free. There are stairs. There is parking in the driveway and below on the street, but carpooling is encouraged.
When: Thursday mornings, 10 – 11:30 AM
Format: A half hour meditation with sufficient guidance for beginners and sufficient silence for advanced meditators. Then a dharma talk and discussion on how through practice we live in a more present, joyful and compassionate way.
Fees: The class is taught on a dana basis. Dana is the Pali word for generosity. The teachings are offered freely, and the students are offered the opportunity to offer dana of whatever amount feels right so that the teacher may continue to teach. The original paying it forward concept.
