POEM: Distance

Here & now
things are
actual size
ready to be
dealt with.

Then & there
even big things
appear small.
This is not just
some artist’s
trick of perspective.
In fact! Things in
the distance are small
because there is
absolutely nothing
you can do about them
from here
except wrap them
in loving kindness
and return to
the breath.
