In this experiential exercise, I will offer a word that will activate a veil of thought and emotion, and encourage you to practice exploring it. I fully trust this word will make for an interesting, maybe even enlightening exploration. And by using the veil metaphor, you may find that you are able to have a discussion, about the topic or anything else, that is more compassionate and more dispassionate. Although that sounds contradictory, imagine a conversation where you are able to express your own ideas with greater clarity and hear other people’s ideas with more openness. Wouldn’t that be refreshing?
For best results, do this exercise after meditating or quieting the mind. And, before beginning, get something to write with as you will be making notes of what comes up for you.
